Christmas-tide was widely celebrated holiday of festival cycle lasted during two weeks from the 7th to the 19th of January (new style).
It included Christmas, New Year, Baptism.
The characteristic feature of Novgorod Christmas-tide was the use of ritual songs, so called kaljadki, glorifying of Christ, different fortune-tellings, disguising oneselves, different diversified Youth Merry making etc.
The festival is organised in the open-air museum "Vitoslavitsy". In it's programme: outdoor performances of folklore groups, selling exhibitions of applied and decorative art, traditional winter games and amusements.
